Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has had their fair share of mishaps, but the most recent one is regarding the conduction of offline exams. Now, when we take a look at the exams conducted on a larger scale like NEET, JEE, KAS, UPSC, NATA, 10th, 12th, COMEDK and many more. All these exams were postponed but none of them were conducted online. All the huge educational organizations/ universities like having these exams in their control, they like to have the upper hand on deciding how and when these exams are conducted, more like having the complete authority. And the same goes with VTU too.
In recent news about Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), 125 students from all over the state have taken their plea about offline exams to the Karnataka High Court, they say this decision by VTU is “arbitrary and impractical”. However, the vice-chancellor of VTU Dr. Karisidappa says otherwise, he says that most of the universities who have conducted their exams online were unsuccessful. He says “there are many issues that the students face when exams are conducted online. Many a time, the proctored software in computers don’t work. All the colleges might not have proper IT infrastructure on their campuses. Internet connectivity and speed is a huge issue in rural areas, students will be put into trouble”.
Despite receiving backlash from the very students who are supposed to write the exams and negative hashtags such as #VTUmurdersstudents trending on twitter , neither VTU nor the Karnataka High Court appear to be in any rush to change their decision.
